Tanzania: Azam Off to Face Ndanda Hurdle
Confident Azam FC left Dar es Salaam yesterday for Mtwara to face Ndanda FC hurdle in their Premier League match to be held tomorrow at Nangwanda Sijaona Stadium.
Azam who lost 1-0 in their previous game against Simba at Uhuru Stadium, will be seeking to regain the position after the loss dropped from the top of the league table to the third position.
They are going to Mtwara limping behind Simba and Young Africans who are occupying the first and second positions respectively. The Ice-Cream makers are confident of positive results despite facing a tough side.
Under the tutelage of Spanish coach, Zeben Hernandez, Azam have trained intensively to plot the downfall of Ndanda at their home ground. Azam want to regain their winning formula after losing the previous game last Saturday.
The Spaniard whose side has won all their matches played away, will be looking to maintain his record by ensuring they win the match against Ndanda so as to close a gap with his closer competitors Simba and Yanga in the battle for the top slot of the league.
To ensure the team has positive result, the technical bench decided to shift its training for the game from artificial turf pitch to natural grass pitch in order to cope with the standard of Nangwanda Sijaona pitch which, some teams have complained to be in a poor state.
The team is also expected to change its usual playing tactics by using long balls in the attacking in order to win the match and overcome pitch barrier.
While Azam will be in Mtwara to face Ndanda, their rivals Simba will be at home at the National Stadium to host Majimaji FC from Songea, Ruvuma who are at the bottom of the league table without a point from five league games.
The league defending champions Yanga will be at the CCM Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga to face hosts Stand United to complete their six-point mission in Shinyanga. They beat Mwadui FC 2-0 in the previous game at the venue.
