Three men have been charged after a woman was allegedly lured to the Eiffel Tower on Facebook and then gang-raped.

The men, who are all allegedly of Algerian origin, were arrested in a hotel in Paris earlier this week on suspicion of raping the French woman in the Champs-de-Mars garden, which is close to the iconic tower.

Tens of millions of gallons of reprocessed water from the fertilizer plant in central Florida are likely to have seeped into the Floridan aquifer after the massive sinkhole opened up. One of the men is believed to have spoken to the victim on Facebook before arranging to meet her in the capital last Sunday.

She had reportedly been invited to ‘drink Coca-Cola and eat strawberries and grapes’ in the garden, but it was a set-up and she was allegedly dragged into the bushes and attacked.

The Paris prosecutor’s office, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the ongoing investigation, confirmed the men had been arrested and charged.

The men, who reportedly live in Germany, are currently being held in custody.
