Uganda: Express Visit Rivals KCCA in Kampala Derby

Kampala — The first cross-city duel in one of Uganda football's greatest rivalries takes place this afternoon when leaders KCCA and fourth placed Express meet in 'Kampala derby' at Lugogo. It's a tricky one to call.

The two sides come into today's clash just four points apart in League, with both coming off morale boosting wins over the weekend.

Express, who overcame title challengers Vipers 1-0 on Friday at Nakivubo, are eager to inflict the same pain on a KCCA side that brushed aside BUL 3-1 on Saturday at Kakindu to cement top spot.

"It will be a battle of tactical discipline but after watching KCCA's win over BUL, I realized they depend so much on their midfield to ignites their attacks," said Express head coach Alex Gitta.

He and deputy Wasswa Bbosa, will have to conjure a win over KCCA without midfield spoiler Derrick Tekkwo - scorer of the winning goal against Vipers. He is suspended while left-back Ismail Kazibwe and striker Isaac Sserunkuuma are both injured.

"Returning left winger Yayo Lutimba or Sam Ssenkoomi will fill Kazibwe's shoes to play defence," Gitta revealed.

Vincent Kayizzi, who switched from Wankulukuku to Lugogo at the start of the season, warned that his new club must treat the Red Eagles with caution and respect.

"Their players have experience and know the weight of the club which makes them play for pride. That said, we have what it takes to beat Express," Kayizzi remarked.
