Zambia/Nigeria: New Chipolopolo Coach Unveils Squad for Nigeria Clash
Newly appointed Chipolopolo assistant coach Wedson Nyirenda has got to his first assignment naming a 33 member provisional squad ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on October 9.
Nyirenda will be in charge of the Chipolopolo before a full time expatriate coach is named by the Football Association of Zambia.
Wada has opened the door for want-away midfielder Chisamba Lungu and also included the wayward Fwayo Tembo in the squad.
A host of local players have been given a run in as the Chipolopolo looks to putting up a credible chase for the race for the Russia 2018 World Cup that has Nigeria, Algeria, Cameroun and Zambia competing for one slot.
The naming of the new coach has been delayed by the absence of firm commitment from government with the process expected to be speeded up once a new minister of sports is named.
